In apparent excitement, a faculty member of Benue State University (BSU) Makurdi, Dr Garshagu Atovigba, is on his feet, clapping for the Governor of Benue State, Fr. Hyacinth Alia, overpayment of 35 months arrears of Academic Earned Allowance (EAA) owed faculty members.
Vice Chancellor Prof Joe Tor Iorpuu recently said during the university’s post-convocation Thanksgiving that the issue of EAA would “become a thing of the past soon.”
Two weeks later, the Benue varsity faculty member, Dr. Atovigba, took to his Facebook page, Garshagu Atovigba, last night, saying: “Gov Alia has paid BSU staff all the 35 months EAA arrears owed them.”
“A standing ovation to the Gov!” he went on.
Prof Iorapuu further indicated on the same day that once the EAA arrears are cleared, individual faculty members would have to give the university what the university wanted.
Developing BSU students to become global workers, creating a clean environment, teaching, research, timely results release, and not being a stumbling block to students’ success are among the key things Prof Iorapuu emphasizes, and TNT understands.
