- The National Agricultural Mechanisation Cooperative of Nigeria (NAMCON) says it plans to establish cattle ranches in Nigeria’s 774 Local Governments Areas (LGAs).
NAMCON focuses on transforming the country’s agricultural sector through mechanisation and empowerment programmes that aim to boost job creation, reduce poverty, and enhance food security.
Dr Aliyu Waziri, National President of NAMCON, told journalists recently in Kaduna that the planned ranches are part of sustained efforts to modernise livestock production in the country and bolster value-addition.
According to Dr Waziri, the ranches would be provided with adequate animal feed, mega-dams, and an array of world-class equipment.
The ranches would also provide clinics, western and Islamic schools, and other necessary infrastructure.
