USAID accused of funding Boko Haram, other terrorist organisations

Date:

United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded the Boko Haram terrorist and other terror groups, US congressman, Scott Perry, has alleged.

In a video shared on X, Perry said during a congressional hearing that funding from USAID was given to Boko Haram under the Barack Obama and Joe Biden administrations.

Perry stated in part: “Who gets some of that money?… ISIS, Al Qaeda, Boko Haram…, terrorist training camps. That’s what it’s funding.”

USAID has been at the centre of controversy following startling revelations by the new advisory agency Department for Government Efficiency (DOGE). DOGE was established by President Donald Trump upon returning to the White House to rid the US government of wasteful spending and corruption and is headed by billionaire Elon Musk.

US Democrats have criticised President Trump’s decision to suspend USAID activities and have in turn accused Musk and DOGE of corruption.

None of the former presidents have responded to the allegation as at the time of this report.
