TNT can report that a bill to establish the Federal Medical Centre in Adikpo, Kwande, Benue State, is due for a public hearing on 27th February 2025.
The bill for the establihment of FMC Adikpo is sponsored by Senator Emmanuel Memga Udende (Benue North- East/APC). The purpose of the public hearing is to gather input on the bill and several other health-related bills for further legislative action, TNT understands.
The one-day public hearing is organised by Senate Committee on Health (Secondary and Tertiary). Other bills to be discussed at the public hearing are the Federal Orthopaedic Hospitals Management Board Act Amendment to Establish an additional Orthopaedic Hospital in Obokun, Osun State, sponsored by Senator Fadahunsi, Francis Adenigba (Ogun East), and the National Eye Centre Establishment, to establish a National Eye Centre in Jimeta, Adamawa State, sponsored by Senator Abass, Aminu Iya (Adamawa Central).
According to the committee, Sen Udende, the sponsor of the FMC Adikpo Establishment Bill, is encouraged to make a brief remark on his bill on the day of the hearing, which will take place in the Senate White House, Abuja.
Three stakeholders from Benue North East are required to contribute to the bill.
All the bills have already passed a second reading.
