Member representing Oju/Obi Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. David Ogewu has said that when established, the Federal Biomedical University Oju will bring a federal presence to his constituency, putting an end to challenges occasioned by the lack of medical institutions in the area.
Rep Ogewu’s bill to establish a Federal Biomedical University in Oju, Benue State, passed a second reading in the House of Representatives and has been referred to the House Committee on University Education for further legislative scrutiny.
After the second reading, the Oju/Obi Federal representative told journalists that it takes his constituents hours to travel to locations such as Otukpo or Makurdi, the Benue State capital, to access quality healthcare, putting them at risk of not getting timely medical attention.
He is optimistic that once the bill is passed into law, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) will give assent for the university to become a reality since his administration is masses-oriented.
Rep Ogewu wants his constituents to understand that with him as their representative, a new dawn has come. He calls on them to join hands to make Igedeland look like the important cities they desire and live comfortable lives.
