A fragile peace has emerged from the bloody conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
After months of intense fighting that has claimed thousands of lives and devastated infrastructure on both sides, Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to a 60-day ceasefire. The deal, brokered by the United States, aims to halt the relentless cycle of violence that has gripped the region.
Under the terms of the agreement, Israel will withdraw its troops from southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah fighters will retreat north of the Litani River. A United Nations (UN) peacekeeping force will be deployed to monitor the ceasefire and prevent further escalation.
Both sides have expressed cautious optimism about the deal.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed it as a significant victory, while Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati described it as a crucial step towards restoring stability to his country.
However, the ceasefire does not extend to the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The Israeli military offensive there continues, with devastating consequences for the civilian population. The death toll in Gaza has surpassed 40,000, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
