Russians want an end to the war with Ukraine and lower food prices in 2025.
Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February 2022, in what is described as a major escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War, which started in 2014.
BBC Russia Editor Steve Rosenberg, who has been speaking with Russians ahead of the “New Year holiday,” reports that the people’s replies clearly indicate that they “want an end to the fighting.”
“But how will the war end? And when? No one’s certain,” Steve says in the report.
According to the report, the other major concern for Russians is the economy. “Prices have been rising fast.”
Currently, Russian troops occupy about 20% of Ukraine, with Wikipedia noting that from a population of 41 million, about 8 million Ukrainians had been internally displaced, and more than 8.2 million had fled the country by April 2023, creating Europe’s largest refugee crisis since World War II.
