It has emerged that Benue State Governor, Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has directed a review of the symbol and flag for the state, with a fresh vote expected this week.
Voting for the final selection of the state symbols ended last Thursday, 30th January 2025, at 1:00 PM.
The Benue State Screening Committee of the State Symbols (Flag, Anthem, and Symbol) had earlier, on Tuesday, 28th January 2025, trimmed down entries to three (3) each for the symbol and flag after nine days of interrogating entries.
Data obtained from the voting on the Benue State Government site, State Symbols and Flag Voting System, showed the symbol with two lions leading the vote for the symbol while the flag with the green colour leads in the flag segment.
While voting was going on and even after the vote, calls have continued to pour in for modification of the symbols.
TNT understands the governor has called for a review.
An insider who did not want to be named told this medium that the modified symbols would likely be subjected to another round of voting.
Nearly 6000 respondents participated in the previous vote.
