President of the Senate (SP), Senator Godswill Akpabio has referred the sexual harassment petition against him by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, Kogi Central, to Senate Committee on Code of Conduct, Ethics and Public Petitions.
Senator Natasha, who is also alleging abuse of office and malicious obstruction of her legislative functions by the Senate President cited Senate Rule 40, before laying her petition at the Wednesday, 5th March 2025, plenary.
Disagreement between the two senators was sparked by seating arrangements in the Senate, escalating into a major controversy with Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan alleging that SP Akpabio blocked her motions from being heard on the Senate floor because she had rejected his sexual advances.
Receiving the petition, SP Akpabio referred it to the Senate Committee on Code of Conduct, Ethics and Public Petitions to be reported back to Senate “as soon as practicable.”
Terzungwe Kwagh-Aondo, teacher, says Senator Natasha Akpoti is one of the bright and shining stars of the current Senate.
“Her rare brains, brawn, beauty, bravery and bravado are the currency in which she trades and sledge hammer with which she is using to shame and smash the Akpabios of this world to smithereens,” he went on.
