The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS), Benue Branch, has commenced a three-day Health Week in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, taking the campaign to strategic locations.
Miss Jacinta Aondoakaa, Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting (PMER) officer, NRCS Benue Branch says in a statement that the health week is an initiative of the Branch to continue to leverage on the core pillars of the organisation to foster community outreach, resilience and the need to maintain a healthy environment, healthy lifestyle as well as increased membership drive.
According to Miss Aondoakaa, the NRCS team carried out testing for HIV, taking of vital signs (Blood Pressure, Pulse), reaching 30 adults at Angwan Jukun community. The team also administered Albendazole to 25 adults to curb the issue of overdue deworming.
The team also administered vitamin A to 40 school children between the ages of 1-5 years in God Learners Academy, Miss Aondoakaa, adds in the statement.
She said the Benue NRCS team members took turns to deliver talks on health and well-being.
